My Mum and I heard this song whilst we were sat in Scout mid way through the SATC tour in New York last month drinking cocktails and we both loved it. The song reminds me of being on holiday, and that’s as good a reason as any for it to be a magic song.
When I was at school I used to go to loads of concerts with my friend Tara, I’m sure we’d go every couple of months at least. We’ve seen loads of great and some not so great bands and artists over the years, so I thought it would be fun to look back over the bands I’ve seen in the past.
I had a big thing for Daniel Bedingfield, I was pretty obsessed!

2008 I saw Duffy just before she hit the big time. It was a tiny venue in Birmingham and we were right at the front, it was so intimate – superb.
Jack Johnson in 2006. I had high hopes for this gig, and I just remember feeling the venue was too big and impersonal for an artist like him, I’d have preferred to watch on a summer beach somewhere.
Another from 2006, this time James Blunt. It was absolutely brilliant, from memory!
2006 again, Keane at the Eden project. It was such an awesome gig, Tara and I spent the whole day queuing to get to the front row, I think we were pretty sunburnt by the end of the day. Magical!
Paolo Nutini in 2007. This was a pretty bad gig. I’m pretty sure he was drunk the whole time and used the microphone stand to stop him from falling over!
Sugababes in 2007. This concert was rocking and I had a super girl crush on these ladies for ages after!
I’ve seen lots of other artists, I just can’t seem to find any other photos, hmm! Other memories include Joss Stone, Athlete, Rufus Wainwright, and Will Young!
I’m going to dedicate a whole post to my favourite band, The Magic Numbers, and all the times I’ve seen them, as there’s quite a few!!
I went away for three weeks in January with work, and whilst it was really hard work, it was really good fun too. I met some great people, got to know other people really well, and had lots of laughs. This song reminds me of being in the bar on Saturday night and just having it played over, and over again! I love the sentiment behind the song, no matter how much money I might have, I’d rather be with you. Cute.
Neil Diamond – Forever in blue jeans
This song makes me think of being in year 7 and 8 at school , and watching American Pie. It makes me think of that film and my school friends every time I hear it.
If you do one thing today, please, please, just take three minutes out of your day and ignore all other distractions to listen to this. I heard it on Jo Whiley’s evening show, and I think it’s beautiful.
My favourite yoga class has stolen my heart for many reasons. One, that the instructor is amazing and I have a huge girl crush on her! Two, seems to know exactly what I need in my life at that moment, and has a song to go with it.
A couple of weeks ago I went to a yoga class feeling really stressed and tensed, when she played Clair de lune (yes, made popular by Twilight!) during our sun salutation. I was in warrior pose when it came on, and pivoted up into an inversion, and I felt like a serene ballerina. It was perfect.
I try really hard not to watch TV or go on my laptop before bed, as I find I don’t sleep quite so well. Instead, I’ve discovered the perfect company for relaxing of an evening. Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 shows from 8-10pm are always a pleasure. She totally has the same music taste as me, and I love her mix of interviews, new music I’ve yet to discover, chat, and live music. She’s the reason I have an obsession with San Fermin. I always get a little bit upset when I realise it’s past 8pm and I’ve forgotten to tune in, so I often catch up on the listen again at work. I find it really chills me out, I can potter around, paint my nails and pamper, read my box, and just relax.
